Chasing "AI-everything" is a recipe for brittle systems and unacceptable risk.
The strategic, balanced approach is to use AI as a powerful tool, not a universal replacement. It means architecting a system that leverages AI's strengths (creativity, pattern recognition) while ring-fencing mission-critical functions with the reliability of traditional, deterministic logic.
Are You Building a Tool or an Asset?#
When a founder decides to "add AI," their first thought is often a customer service chatbot based on naive Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). This is a strategic error. You haven't built an intelligent asset; you've invested in a depreciating tool. A simple AI tool is a form of technical debt that will need to be ripped out and replaced.
A true intelligent system is built on a Cognitive Architecture. It maintains contextual memory, learns from every interaction, and can reason about complex business processes.
